The Original Dent Viewer™

Make Subtle Panel Damage Easier to See, Photograph, and Document

Minor dents, waves, rolls, and panel distortion can be difficult to capture in an ordinary photograph. When damage is not clearly visible, estimates, repair plans, customer discussions, and insurer documentation may not accurately communicate the work required.

The Original Dent Viewer™ is a professional damage-documentation tool designed to make panel irregularities easier to see and photograph. Its high-contrast grid reflects across the vehicle’s surface, helping reveal changes in the panel that may otherwise disappear under normal lighting.

As the straight grid lines reflect across dents, waves, rolls, and other surface irregularities, the lines appear distorted. This creates a clearer visual reference for estimators, technicians, insurers, and customers.

Two Sides for Different Lighting Conditions

The Original Dent Viewer is two-sided, allowing estimators and technicians to choose the side that provides the strongest contrast for the vehicle color and inspection environment.

Reflective White Side

The reflective white side is designed for indoor damage photography using a camera flash. Its premium reflective surface returns the flash toward the camera, helping the grid appear bright and clearly defined across the damaged panel.

The reflective white side works especially well in estimating bays, blueprinting areas, repair facilities, and other indoor inspection environments.

Best for:

  • Indoor inspections
  • Photography using a camera flash
  • Dark and medium-colored vehicles
  • Low-light estimating areas
  • Blueprinting and repair-planning bays

Dark Side

The dark side creates stronger contrast on white, silver, and other light-colored vehicles. It is also ideal for brightly lit environments where the reflective white side may create too much glare.

Best for:

  • White and light-colored vehicles
  • Outdoor inspections
  • Bright shop lighting
  • Direct sunlight
  • Vehicle check-in walk-arounds

How to Use The Dent Viewer

Position the Dent Viewer at approximately a 90-degree angle to the damaged area, then photograph the reflection across the panel.

The Dent Viewer itself remains outside the photograph. Only the reflected grid appears on the vehicle’s surface.

As the grid passes across dents, waves, rolls, and panel distortion, the straight lines bend and change shape, making subtle damage easier to identify, photograph, and communicate.

Adjust the board position, camera angle, or selected side until the grid provides the clearest contrast across the damaged area.
